Pumpkin Show 2010: Part 8

Even though the industry pros are amazing at it, scrapping just one photo on a page is totally out of my comfort zone. But meeting our friends Noel and Ryan for the first time in person after months of bloggy friendship was an evening highlight that merited its own page.

Conventional wisdom says you're supposed to add stitches to your buttons so that they give the illusion of being sewn on, but, alas, I am lazy.

Decorative paper clips are a common scrapbook embellishment, but you can glue your own buttons or other trinkets to regular old paperclips and save your pennies.

I did it! The super duper sale at Michael's yesterday finally gave me the courage to buy a scrapbook (bright yellow), extra pages, paper, stickers, ribbon trim and chipboard letters. I also have a few things here at the house (plus my Cricut and Xyron sticker maker) to get me started.

Please do not think for one second that I will not blatantly rip off every single one of these pages at first.

Hooray! I'm so excited for you! I hope you enjoy it and it don't put too much pressure on yourself. I find scrapbooking such a fun and creative outlet. Other crafts are great, too, but with scrapbooking, you get to throw out patterns and just stick a bunch of pretty stuff wherever you want. Mostly, though, it's such a joy to do something with photos you love of PEOPLE you love.

And no matter what you do, Harper will absolutely treasure it, because it was made by you.
Dude, I can't believe you made that paperclip yourself. Totally professional, I thought. Of course I love your one-photo layout.

Thanks, baby. I'm seeing more and more handmade embellishments lately, and it's sort of exposing just how simply made some store-bought items really are. Of course, it's much easier to buy what you like, but it's so helpful to know how to crank out something of your own when your stash is low.
