Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Excuse the harsh shadows in the picture. I just snapped a quick shot before giving this card to my mom this afternoon.

I didn't have any St. Patrick's Day stamps or supplies, so I went with a generic sentiment and die cut four hearts out of green paper to make the shamrock. It looked a little bare, so I made a little flower out of paper scraps to go on top. To learn how to make flowers like this one, check out this tutorial at the Hambly blog.

SO CUTE!! What a non-lame flower. Was it that new embossing tooly thingy you got recently that made the texture on the cardstock, or did you buy it that way?

Thaaanks, man.

Yeah, I used the Texture Boutique on the card before slapping on the shamrock. It's a little bit addictive. I did the envelope for Simon's card using the same polka dot pattern, just because I couldn't bring myself to not make use of it somehow. If that thing was 12x12, there's no way we'd ever use a non-embossed background paper ever again in our scrapbooking. Unfortunately, it's only 6 inches wide.
OH! You're KILLING me! That card is adorable! The flower's the best part.

Quick question: What are the dimensions of your average card? Do you bother putting them in envelopes?

Thanks!

Funny you should ask about card dimensions. That's the first thing I wrote about in the draft of the "101" post I started!

There are lots of standard sizes for cards. I tend to stick with A2 cards, which are 5.5" x 4.25". Those dimensions aren't as weird as they sound. It's actually 1/4 of an 8.5" x 11" sheet of cardstock, so you can make two cards by hacking a sheet of cardstock in half widthwise and then folding them in half.

I sometimes make square cards or cards with funny dimensions, but usually only when I know I don't need an envelope.
