Rupert's lack of eyes reminds me of a song my dad used to sing while holding back our cat Casper's ears:"Devil cat! Devil cat!"Those were the only words, but it was a really catchy tune.
I think if you look closely enough, he clearly has eyes. Although upon a quick glance, it does rather appear like a floating cat mask with nothing inside it.
